“I think of my work like the work of a compass…”

My work is guided by the idea that every person has the ability to change and overcome whatever obstacles they may be facing. My job is to help you identify your strengths and capabilities in order to move forward and create lasting change. I think of my work like the work of a compass; an instrument that guides you, shows the way or may provide a new direction when one is lost. But a compass can only point out a different direction—ultimately you are the one who has to walk down that path.

People come to see me for a variety of issues. I often work with women who are having problems in their relationships — whether in their marriage, parenting or with members of the family they grew up in. My clients enjoy working with me because I’m a great listener and offer new ways of seeing their issues while challenging them to think about and experience life differently.

  • It is very important to see progress happening during your time with me. To that end, we’ll collaborate to put together goals that are attainable and as tangible as possible. We’ll periodically review those goals to make sure we’re staying on track.

In my former life, I was a development/fundraiser for various non-profits and in the Twin Cities. Advocating and working for missions I believed in was very rewarding but I found I was missing something. That something turned out to be a career in psychotherapy. So after 10 years in the development field, I switched tracks, went back to grad school, pursued a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy while experiencing my first pregnancy. Soon after the birth of my first child, I graduated, launched my private practice and I’ve never looked back. This work is something I truly feel passionate about and few things bring me greater joy than helping women and their families feel more connected with each other and themselves.

When I’m not in the office with clients, I enjoy spending time with family and friends catching up on movies, riding bikes, finding great comedy performances, doing puzzles and playing board games (nerd alert!). I am also a huge music lover and and try to get out to hear live music as often as my schedule allows for it. My own compass guides me to nature where I find the greatest peace and comfort – whether it’s a trip to the Boundary Waters or a simple afternoon in a park where I can just breathe in some fresh air and move.
